Through The Canopy - 'Descension' -REVIEW-

Through the canopy are self proclaimed 'prog doom' and after listening through i can see what they mean, the eerie melancholy flows through with haunting atmospheres and guitar wails and riffs with unexpected sections of heaviness that add gravity to the tracks.

Vocally even though it was brief i think it could have been mixed better, it just sort of sits in the track not really finding a good balance and standing out or blending well. BUT we arent listening to prog just for the vocals lets be honest here.

Theres only two tracks but it might as well be 4 with each song totaling over 10 mins each requiring a patient listener, finally i will say these guys show great promise and are nailing a minimalist doom post rock hybrid but they seem a little hollow, you can hear this is just the start for 'Through The Canopy' and i am interested to see what they do next in their full length.

7/10 RIFFS
