I made my way to the infamous asylum venue in Birmingham to catch the mighty king goat supported by kroh, mage and voidlurker. This was a night of doom and boy was it glorious!

If you have never been to asylum 2 its intimate and warm...very warm BUT the sound is amazing!

First up were "Voidlurker" the day before getting through M2TM Birmingham to the semi finals as their FIRST gig!!!! they are on a good momentum atm as this was only their second gig! Voidlurker were Groovy, heavy, bleak and disorientating... a barrage of riffs and ferocious drumming accompanied with harsh vocals they impressed the whole crowd that attended including myself. There were some improvements needed to be made in the flow of their set and the deliberate feedback was just painful rather than interesting but its the second gig, will be keeping an eye on these guys. 8/10 RIFFS

Next on was "MAGE" the vocalist tilts too much getting negative and making comments "if you are even listening" not the best way to win a crowd... Apart from that i really enjoyed their set!

Had some great moments and consistent groove and the vocals were solid my favorite song by them was "the drinking song" the front row were all headbanging including myself deffo will catch them again! 7/10 RIFFS

Next up are "KROH" This may sound stupid but i find kroh lacking in variety, the songs tend to be repetitive with little progression BUT APART FROM MY BITCHING i enjoyed the set with some great atmospheres, groove and incredibly beautiful vocals! I think the best is yet to come from this band and i am interested to see where they go. 7/10

And our headliners! "KING GOAT" MASTERFUL musicianship from the goat... incense on the guitar, cloaks and glowing stones you know you are in for a trip to the spiritworld! king goat are progressive, groovy, slow, atmospheric, dark and almost ritual like taking you on a journey.

The set was hypnotizing with ethereal operatic vocals and psychedelic elements intertwined in the music it was a such a experience seeing them live. The crowd thinned for them which surprised me but that did not waiver the goat and blew me away. definitely will see them again! 9/10 RIFFS
